- What are the system requirements?
- macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later, on Apple Silicon or Intel. Grainulator runs as a standalone application or as a VST3, AUv3, or AAX plugin inside any modern host. About 200 MB of disk space; no GPU requirements beyond what your DAW already needs.
- Which plugin formats are supported?
- At launch: VST3, AUv3, and AAX on macOS, plus a standalone application. The installer lets you choose which formats to install. Windows (VST3 + standalone) and iPad / iPadOS (AUv3) are coming soon.
- Is there a free demo?
- Yes. Download the same installer and run it without a license — the demo is fully functional but inserts brief moments of silence at random intervals. Buy a license any time and the silence stops. Grab the demo from the Downloads page.
- How does the license work?
- One purchase = one license, valid on every Mac you own. Your license key arrives by email after checkout and unlocks every plugin format from one entry. All future updates to the version you bought are included.
- What's the refund policy?
- If something is broken, mis-described, or just not what you expected, email us within 30 days of purchase and we’ll refund you, no argument. The demo build exists so you can try before buying — please do.
- Which hardware controllers are supported?
- Grainulator has deep support for monome grid & arc, Midi Fighter Twister, and any class-compliant MIDI controller via MIDI learn. Full controller details live in the documentation.
- When are Windows and iPad coming?
- Windows is in active development; we’re aiming for a release within a few months of the macOS launch — it will be a free update on your existing license. iPad is further out and will arrive via the App Store as a separate purchase, since Apple’s rules don’t allow license carryover from desktop sales.
- How do I get updates?
- Updates are free for the version you bought. You’ll get an email when a new build is ready, with a download link tied to your license. Major versions in the future may be paid upgrades — those will be announced clearly in advance.
- I think I found a bug.
- Email support@plasticfactory.com with the version number (visible in the plugin’s settings panel), your DAW + macOS version, and a short description of what you did and what happened. A short screen recording is gold if you can spare one.
