Capture & Freeze
Grab a single frame of incoming sound and hold it. The spectrum becomes a tone, then a chord, then a pad. Modulate it and the frozen moment starts to move again.
Sound, taken apart.
Grainsmith pulls audio apart in two different ways and lets you wander through what falls out. Drop in any sample, then follow the instrument into clouds, drones, frozen spectra, and accidents you couldn’t have written down.

Grab a single frame of incoming sound and hold it. The spectrum becomes a tone, then a chord, then a pad. Modulate it and the frozen moment starts to move again.
Capture up to eight frames and scan through them like a wavetable made of moments. Slow scans drift across timbres; fast scans turn into rhythm.
Two engines, side by side, listening to each other through a dedicated XMod bus. Push the amount up and the spectra start to cross-pollinate.
Per-voice multi-mode filter and a saturation stage that complements granular textures instead of fighting them.
Tape-flavored delay and a Cloudseed-derived reverb tuned for ambient and exploratory work. Lush by default, dry on request.
Four physical-modeling models: modal, sympathetic, string, FM voice. The same engine that becomes Particle Chimes, in June, as its own focused instrument.
macOS today, signed and notarized. Universal binary, Apple Silicon and Intel. Windows coming.

The same granular engine, rebuilt as a single multitouch screen for iPad and iPhone. Catch a sound and take it apart. Captures come back to the bench as WAV.
